Rockstar Games published Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look on August 27, 2026. It premiered on Netflix at 3 p.m. ET and went up on Rockstar’s own YouTube channel and the official Grand Theft Auto VI site later the same evening.
What Rockstar says it is
Per Rockstar, the footage was captured entirely in-game on PlayStation 5, and it “showcases the biggest, most immersive evolution of the series yet”. The first half of that is a checkable production claim; the second is marketing.
Why the Netflix premiere is the interesting part
A trailer premiering on a streaming platform before the developer’s own channel is a distribution decision, not a gameplay one. It is worth noting because it says something about how the launch is being marketed — and nothing at all about the game.
