How we label evidence
Every entry on this site carries one of five evidence labels. This is what each one means, what it takes to earn it, and why we will not upgrade a label just because a claim feels obviously right.
- Published
- Last checked
Five labels — Official, Reported, Rumor, Community and Debunked — describing where a claim came from, not how likely we think it is to be true.
The labels describe provenance, not probability. A Reported claim can be more likely true than an Official one is likely to survive to launch. The label tells you where the information came from so you can weigh it yourself.
Official
Published by Rockstar Games or Take-Two, or directly confirmed by them. This label requires at least one source of type "official" — the site refuses to publish an Official entry without one.
Reported
Carried by a named publication or an identifiable source, without direct official confirmation. The source and its date are always visible. Where the reporting is thin or the outlet is a fan site, the entry says so in the source note.
Rumor
An unconfirmed claim we are tracking. Every rumor entry has to explain what supports it, what contradicts it, and where it currently stands. A claim with nothing behind it can still be tracked — the absence is the finding.
Community
Theory, analysis or a reader contribution. Frequently excellent work. Never presented as a fact, however convincing.
Debunked
Checked and found wrong. These entries stay published. Deleting them would remove the only evidence that anyone checked.
The rules we hold ourselves to
- Colour is never the only signal — every status has a text label and a screen-reader description
- An Official entry cannot be published without an official source
- A Rumor entry cannot be published without evidence notes
- A countdown is never derived from an unconfirmed date
- Corrections are visible on the article, not silent edits
Common questions
Why is something labelled Reported when it is obviously true?
Because the label describes the source, not our opinion. If the only source is a fan site, the entry says Reported even when the detail is almost certainly correct. Upgrading it would make the label meaningless.
Do you host leaks?
No. We do not host leaked files, builds or download links, and we do not publish private information about individuals. We will report that a leak occurred where that is itself the news.
