What age rating does Grand Theft Auto VI have?

The ratings are in. As shown on 2026-10-02:

• North America (ESRB): Mature 17+ — Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Mature Humor, Nudity, Strong Language, Strong Sexual Content, Use of Drugs and Alcohol. Interactive element: In-Game Purchases. Rockstar’s own Grand Theft Auto VI page shows this rating, as do the PlayStation and Xbox stores.
• Europe (PEGI): 18 — Drugs, Sexual Content, Extreme Violence, Nudity, with In-Game Purchases, as listed on the UK PlayStation Store.
• Australia (Classification Board): R18+ — Drug Use, High Impact Violence, Sex Scenes, as listed on the Australian PlayStation Store.

What “In-Game Purchases” does and does not mean

It is a standard notice that the game sells something inside it — the Ultimate Edition upgrade is one example. It does not by itself mean an online mode, and it says nothing about how purchases work once the game is out.

What changed

Until late September the boards’ databases returned nothing and the stores showed the rating as pending, which is what this entry said then. The ratings appeared on the storefronts and on Rockstar’s page around October 1.
